Yes it's the old "Us and them" concept that has been going on since the beginning of time.
It's the scourge of the planet. Once a person believes this concept to be real. They can rationalize any kind of behavior.
Yet there really is only "us."
in the real world, very few parents would disown their own children simply because they read a magazine that told them to do it.
very few people would forever completely ignore their own parents because an elder got up on a platform one day and announced that they no longer follow the same religion as you.. in the real world it just doesn't happen.
and yet, for 8 million jehovah's witnesses it's very a normal part of their world to treat "other people" differently than they'd treat each other.

for years , we were told to wait until 1975!.
the end was coming and we better be ready—or else!.
were you around during this “momentous “ time??
Of course the quote was "Stay Alive until 75!"
“the christian witnesses of jehovah are the best oriented, happiest and most contended group of people on the face of the earth.
so why on earth would any good follower need the help of a mental health professional?” the society tells about the evils of seeking help from outside their organization.
"as a rule, for a christian to go to a worldly psychiatrist is an admission of defeat.
The society has said.
It amounts to 'going down to Egypt for help' - Isaiah 31:1. ...Also, more and more psychiatrists are resorting to hypnosis which is a demonic form of worldly wisdom." Awake! 1960 March 8 p. 27
“Often when a Witness of Jehovah goes to a psychiatrist, the psychiatrist will try to persuade him that his troubles are caused by his religion, entirely overlooking the fact that the Christian witnesses of Jehovah are the best oriented, happiest and most contended group of people on the face of the Earth. They have the least need for psychiatrists. Also, more and more psychiatrists are resorting to hypnosis, which is a demonic form of worldly wisdom.” Awake! 1954
Why would the society not want their mentally distressed followers see a psychiatrist? Because they are concerned for the welfare and health of their disciples? No, they don’t care if you are about ready to blow your brains out, because your parents and Aunt Rose are going to die at Armageddon.
What are they worried about then? They state it very clearly. “The psychiatrist will try to persuade him that his troubles are caused by his religion”
Wow, they don’t even blink an eye do they?
What if this is true? What if your whack job of a religion is creating the grief and distress in your life!
Cool aid anyone?
last week was awful for the stock exchange..... do you guys think something like the 2008 crisis could happen again?
the prophets of doom are talking about a 10 % correction....
well traditionally October has always been the month
i think that once you get on the internet and you see evidence that shows jehovah’s witnesses do not have the real truth, it can jolt you.
but i don’t think simply going on an internet site typically changes a person’s direction—even if the information is very damning toward the witnesses.
i think it takes time to eventually get out.
I never looked up anything on the internet for or against the JWs before I left their organization.
On the other hand the information here has been invaluable! In fact the book I have been writing could never had happened with out the wealth of information that was been found here. Plus, I have been able to make many wonderful connections with people here. Their wonderful stories and experiences have been a real source of encouragement!
This is the only site I'm on.
I can't thank Simon enough. Well will never know how many lives ( both physically and mentally) this site has saved!
so canada has legalized pot / marijuana / cannabis and you can go to stores today and buy some.
the local news is covering it here in calgary with crowds of thousands expected at one of only 2 stores licensed in the city but last i saw, there were only 7 people in the line so who knows how popular it will be.
i imagine all the people who really wanted to get it could already get it easily so this is more about expanding the market to new users who will be less inclined to queue for hours on day 1.. apparently you'll also be able to purchase online with discreet delivery by canada post.
Your right good point!

I thought we were not supposed to talk about "drugs" on this web site!
lol
in gathering the last little bits of info for my book i tracked down different people, that i have known for many decades.
some are still jws and many have made the break to freedom.. one of the people i contacted was a woman i knew over forty years ago.
she like myself was a "born in.
In gathering the last little bits of info for my book I tracked down different people, that I have known for many decades. Some are still JWs and many have made the break to freedom.
One of the people I contacted was a woman I knew over forty years ago. She like myself was a "born in." She committed adultery back in the early nineteen eighties. Like many people who have been trapped in bad marriages, it was the only way to end and unpleasant situation.
She was able to kill two birds with one stone, and got rid of bad marriage and a bad religion. She was able to do this by way of what she thinks of to this day as an evil act/sin. Even though she believes ending the marriage was the best thing she every did.
40 years out and still feeling guilty. She committed a sin. she "missed the mark." In her mind she broke the rules. Who's rules? What rules?
I have just turned 69 years old and been "out" for over 17 years. Yet, I know in my heart that I'm still dealing with this contaminated thought system that I had been raised in. I know my children who were "born in" and who also have been out of the religion for the same amount of time are still dealing with the confusion of how they were raised. Sadly even my grand children who were never Jehovah's Witnesses have been effected by it.
Many of my ex-Jehovah Witnesses friends tell me what is "right or wrong" what is "appropriate and inappropriate behavior"
Yet where did we get these concepts from? The Bible or other books? Or maybe our parents with their contaminated thought systems?
We all choose what we what to believe in, don't we? Yet were did these notions really come from?
If we don't continually challenge ourselves and test ourselves with the eternal questions of "What, Where, How and Why, how will we ever know if we are free from the many contaminated thought systems that proliferate this planet?
What is your "truth" and what do you believe in?
wow!
i thought he might get less than 2 years incarceration..
Chris Rock said Bill Cosby had called him up many years ago and condemned for using profanity in his performances.
If you noticed, Bill never used any profanity in any of his stand up performances.
Yes it was OK to drug and rape women yet saying damn, hell or shit was just to much for his finer senses.
This just reminds me of the hypocrisy....we see in various religiousness organizations who make a pretense of righteousness yet are anything but.
former governing body assistant howie tran has shared his bethel vow of poverty contract.
it reads rather culty.
i think clause number 9 is particularly worrying...to adhere to, not the bible alone, but also the watchtower literature and the governing body.
The real reason this document was created was to stop all Bethelites from "G jobbing" or having outside work.
When I was at Bethel one Bethelite Dave Borga actually had a full time job out side Bethel. He got only 3 to 4 hours sleep a night. He didn't last long.
